Basil Maurice Haselmaier Sr.

MOUNT VERNON - Basil Maurice Haselmaier Sr., who retired as a civil servant at Brookley Field, died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was 92.

The lifelong Mount Vernon resident graduated from McGill Institute in Mobile. He was a charter member of Joe Southall Lodge No. 905 F&AM and a 32nd degree mason for 53 years.

He was also a life member and a teacher at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Basil Maurice Haselmaier Jr. and Rudolph Haselmaier, both of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Pearl Bryant of Mobile and Eva Parsons of Fremont, Calif.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, where services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Methodist Cemetery in Mount Vernon. Masonic graveside services will be rendered by Joe Southall Lodge No. 905.

Freeman Funeral Home of Citronelle is in charge of arrangements.

Alma Brunson 

Alma Brunson, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile and member of Culvert Holiness Church, died Tuesday at a local hospital. She was 82.

She is survived by two daughters, Marydale Madely and Rosanelle Pickard of Anniston, Ala.; two sisters, Sarah Goodloe of Whistler and Edna Truitt of Eight Mile; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be noon Thursday from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

"Vonnie" Carson

SEATTLE - Voncille "Vonnie" Carson, who worked as a cashier in a department store, died Saturday in Seattle at the age of 50.

Ms. Carson, a resident of Seattle, was a native and longtime resident of Mobile.

Survivors include her mother, Julia Samuels of Mobile; five children, James Carson, Larry Carson, Jerald Carson, Tamaki Carson and Demetrius Carson, all of Seattle; one brother, Carl Samuels of Mobile; and five sisters, Beverly Bolden, Bernadette Williams, Gail Samuels, Andrea Sneed and Janice Jefferson, all of Mobile.

Reese Funeral Home in Prichard will announce arrangements.

Ozzie B. Lofton

SWEET WATER - Ozzie B. Lofton, a homemaker and lifelong resident of Sweet Water, died Thursday in a Mobile hospital.

Mrs. Lofton, 80, was a member of Sweet Water AOH Church of God.

She is survived by seven children, Leona Williams, Nora Jones, Robert Lofton, Frank Lofton, Catherine Lofton and Lois M. Rodgers, all of Mobile, and Maurice Lofton of Dallas, Texas; one stepchild, Margaret Calhoun of Grove Hill, Ala.; two sisters; six brothers; 19 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will take place at 7 p.m Friday at Mosley Funeral Home in Prichard. Another visitation will take place at Sweet Water AOH Church of God on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral. Interment will take place in Union Cemetery in Sweet Water.

Billy Don Drew

COLUMBIA, Mo. - Billy Don Drew, a car wash owner and operator, died June 22 in Columbia. He was 42.

A native of Big Lake, Texas, Drew resided in Columbia. He formerly lived in Monroeville, Ala.

Survivors include his grandmother, Opal Drew of McCullough, Ala.; one son, Christopher Drew of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three sons, Alicia Neal of Houston, Texas, Amy Nguyen of St. Charles, Mo., and Billie Cain of New Chaney, Texas; two sisters, Lisa Asberry of Monroeville and Wanda Higdon of Pensacola; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services are set for 11 a.m. Thursday at Uriah Cemetery in Uriah, Ala., with Monroe Chapel Funeral Home of Monroeville in charge.

Mrs. Lofton, 80, was a member of Sweet Water AOH Church of God.

Uyles Dubose

JACKSON - Uyles Dubose, an employee of Cossie Ray Powell Logging Co., died Saturday in Walker Springs, Ala., in a traffic accident.

Dubose, 40, was a native and resident of Jackson. The U.S. Air Force veteran attained the rank of staff sergeant and received the Training Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, the Longevity Service Ribbon and the Outstanding Unit Award.

Survivors include two sons, Derrick Dubose and Timothy Dubose, both of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Shameka Dubose of Houston; his mother, Dorothy Dubose of Jackson; his grandmother, Anna Mae Law of Toddtown, Ala.; three sisters, Gloria Dubose of Jackson, Hazel Doctor of Atlanta, and Sylvia Dubose of Stone Mountain, Ga.; three brothers, George Dubose Jr. and Dwayne Dubose, both of Jackson, and Christopher Dubose of Atlanta; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Andrews Funeral Home in Jackson. Services are set for 1 p.m. Friday at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church near Jackson with viewing one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Verna M. Naylor

Verna M. Naylor, a homemaker and member of Grace Lutheran Church, died Wednesday in a local hospital at the age of 92.

Mrs. Naylor was a native of Patoka, Ill., and a resident of Mobile.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin Naylor of Mobile; one daughter, Edwina Robertson of Dauphin Island; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Friday at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. graveside service in Mobile Memorial Gardens.

Ernest Melvin Lundy Sr.

The Rev. Ernest Melvin Lundy Sr., who founded and pastored Coden Bible Church from 1948 through this year, died Tuesday at his home. He was 76.

Lundy was a lifelong resident of Theodore.

A U.S. Coast Guard Reserve veteran of World War II, Lundy worked as section chief of inventory management at Brookley Air Force Base before retiring after 29 years.

Survivors include his wife, Adell U. Lundy of Theodore; one daughter Elaine Lundy Coutier of Burke, Va.; one son, Dr. Ernest M. Lundy Jr. of Liberty, S.C.; and six grandchildren.

The funeral is set for 1 p.m. Friday a Serenity Funeral Home with visitation from 11 a.m. until the service. Interment will take place in Oddfellow Cemetery in Bayou La Batre.

Terry W. Tillman

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Terry W. Tillman, a retired chief master sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, died June 23 in San Antonio.

A resident of San Antonio, Tillman was a native of Mobile and a 1960 graduate of McGill Institute. He recently retired from the Civil Service at Osan Air Force Base in Korea.

Survivors include his wife, Sunhie Tillman of San Antonio; and his sister, Sharron Star of Mobile.

Interment took place June 26 in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

"Honey" Young

WIGGINS, Miss. - Lealer "Honey" Young, who had been a longtime resident of Mobile, died Saturday in a Wiggins nursing facility. She was 79.

Mrs. Young was a member of First Baptist Church of Carvers Home in Mobile. She had also been a member of Moscoe Baptist Church in Marengo County and Sunlight Baptist Church.

Survivors include four children, Rosie McCree, Willie Dell Jones, Walter Young and Sakinah Qawiy; 21 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be at First Baptist Church of Carvers Home at 11 a.m. today with services scheduled at 1 p.m. Interment will take place in Oaklawn Cemetery with Memorial Funeral Home of Prichard in charge of arrangements. 
 

Tony Winston Sellers

Tony Winston Sellers, who worked as a welder with Cardinal Construction Inc., died Wednesday in a Mobile hospital. He was 39.

A native of Gilbertown, Ala., Sellers resided in Citronelle and attended Sims Chapel Holiness Church in Sims Chapel, Ala.

Survivors include his wife, Renee Louise Sellers of Citronelle; his parents, Donald and Bernice Sellers of Citronelle; one son, Lavon Seth Sellers of Citronelle; one daughter, Shasta Noel Sellers of Citronelle; three brothers, J.D. Sellers of Gilbertown, Leroy Sellers of Silas, Ala., and Terry Sellers of Tuscaloosa; and four sisters, Margie Todd of Needham, Ala., Margueritte James and Martha McKinnis, both of Gilbertown, and Mamie Beasley of Yellow Pine, Ala.

Services are scheduled for 10 a.m. today in the chapel of Freeman Funeral Home in Citronelle, with a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. today in Mosley Cemetery in Gilbertown.

Heidi Ann Kremer

PORTLAND, Ore. - Heidi Ann Kremer, who worked as a programmer and systems analyst for Nike and Consolidated Freightways, died June 23 from injuries suffered in a June 16 bicycle accident. She was 32.

The Cambridge, Minn., native was a 1984 graduate of Roseville High School. She received her bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota. She worked as a development administration manager for the Minnesota Orchestra.

After moving to Portland, she had also worked in arts administration for the Portland Museum of Art and the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry.

An avid bicyclist and rower, she helped establish Lake Oswego Community Rowing.

According to family members, she was an organ donor who was able to help a number of people after her death.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Novotny of Portland; her mother, Alyce Kremer of Mobile; and four sisters, Kathy Waddell of Salt Lake City, Sandra Maslow of Collierville, Tenn., Cheryl Owens and Donna Kremer Stolte of San Diego.

Memorial services took place Saturday in Portland.
